And Now, The End Is Near

This morning, I received the bill for the next year’s hosting service for this blog. I am now faced with the decision of whether to pay for another year, or let this last year of keeping an online diary go quietly into the night. I’m seriously considering the latter. While it’s been fun and I’ve met an incredible group of people, I don’t know that it’s worth the money just to have a great theme. I could be doing it for free or not at all, just going back to reading and enjoying the writings of others.

And so I face, the final curtain. Decisions, decisions.

Well, obviously, it’s up to you, my dear. We can all say how much we would miss your words if they were banished from the blogosphere, but only you can decide what you really want for yourself. I, for one, would certainly miss them, and your presence.

Is it a matter of price? There are tons of options out there for you, if that is the case, as low as $10 a month. I suppose you just have to decide if it is the price…or something else…that is making you consider falling offline…

Well I would certainly hate to see you go. Seems that too many people have gone away lately and some of the ones that have stayed have turned to shit. Maybe you could just try the free version or even blogger.

    Please stick around.

This blog post of yours make you sound like a deadbeat loser.

If you can’t afford to pay to host your blog, you must be one low income earner, if you even earn at all.

Fuck I live in Africa, and a lot of people I know (including myself) pay for whole servers which are hosted in the United States at a cost of over $100 per month.

And yes, we all earn considerably more than $1 a day in Africa.

So much for the myth of rich Americans.

Yeah, shut your blog down. The web has enough dead beats already.

    Billymac: Thanks.

Atherton: Thank you. It’s not the cost. I get a really great deal on hosting. It’s more of a question on whether the cost is worth it for a blog to have a pretty theme or be more versatile. And whether or not I’m getting any personal value out of this thing. But thank you for your kind words. It really means a lot.

Mike: Thank you. I will give it serious thought.

It would be a real shame to see you give up the blog- give Blogger a try and see if you like it. Hope you stay!

It would be a shame to see you go. I agree with CC, give blogger a try if the funds are tight.

We would really hate to see you go
