The One Time I Wish I Had A Daughter

I just spoke with my car insurance company. Seeing as Joey will be getting his license in the next four weeks, I figured it was time to assess the damage to my pocket book. I will admit, I was really NOT prepared for what I heard today. The addition to my current amount will be $1200. An EXTRA $1200? WTF?

I assumed it would be somewhere in the ballpark of $500. I just don’t understand it. Of course, that amount was AFTER the good student discount and the discount for taking Driver’s Ed. I’m completely shocked and dismayed.

I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do.

In other news, I heard from my sister yesterday and she has gotten new orders. In October she’ll be heading to Kadena AFB in Okinawa. She wasn’t expecting it, so isn’t too excited yet, but I’m thrilled for her. She’s wanted to go to Japan for years. And a huge plus is that she won’t have to go to Iraq in August! YAY!

We went through that hell with my son when he got his insurance. To make matters worse, all of our vehicles are 4 wheel drive. For some reason, insurance companies assume that all 16 year old males will be off-roading with the family SUV.

Glad your sister gets to go where she wants to go. That’s pretty unusual in the military these days.

That does seem a little severe. I had an accident three years ago that was technically my fault (though it wouldn’t have happened had the other driver not been an idiot), and somehow my insurance has gone DOWN every year since. I do General Casualty out of Indianapolis, Indiana, but now that I’ve moved to Kentucky I’m going to lose it because they don’t cover Kentucky drivers, and I’m sure I’ll lose my good price, too. Nice.
