Classes start on Monday. I’m not prepared. I don’t even have my books yet. I’m such a slacker.

I could give two shits about the election right now. I mean really, is anything going to change? No, I don’t think so. I just don’t care any more.

When do finances ever balance out?! I swear if it’s not one thing it’s another; regular monthly bills, car maintenance, school fees, JOEY!, etc.

How about that Joan Rivers? I don’t normally care for her, but you gotta love a broad who will REALLY tell it like it is. There aren’t enough of those people around.

I’ve started walking to work every other day this week. It’s been ok so far. I’m sore as hell (a little under 2 miles each way) but I suppose that’s a good kind of sore. I don’t understand people who enjoy self inflicted pain from exercise. Maybe one day I’ll get there.

I had a great time at my friend’s wedding in Annapolis. Although it was hotter than hell, and I thought I might have to pour myself into a soup bowl to fly home. I was sweating like a pig. Attractive right?

My sister is home for a visit until tomorrow. She’s been here for two weeks now and I’ve hardly seen her. Right before she left, she got new orders…to Kadena, Japan. It was a major shock since she’s been preparing for the Middle East for six months now and was under the impression she would be returning to Little Rock once her tour was over. But because she put Japan down as one of her interests for assignment, and a position came open, she got it. So on the upside, no Iraq…for now. On the downside, it’s a lot harder to just fly home from Japan than it is from Arkansas.

I’m so not in the mood to work today. I’ve spent the last two hours just screwing around online. I suppose I should have some lunch, kill an hour or two.

Somebody in the office got a package from Harry & David’s today. Only that person isn’t in this office. And the package says perishables. I’m wondering if I shouldn’t open it and check on those perishables…you know, in case they need attending to.

Marketing genius or glutton for punishment? You be the judge.

Tomorrow, probably one of the greatest days EVER, I’ll be busy stuffing my face with as much food as humanly possible. Pretty image, no?
Thinking about the true spirit of the holiday, I would like to take this opportunity to reveal those things for which I’m most grateful:
- Joey
- My parents and my siblings
- Great friends, real, web based and imaginary
- My job and my coworkers
- Having a roof over my head and food on my table
- That I live in the United States where no matter how stupid we look to the rest of the world, we can say we are truly free.

Last night, my dad and I stayed up to watch “The Out of Towners” with Sandy Dennis and Jack Lemmon. If you haven’t seen it, then you need to get off your ass and find it. It is truly one of the funniest movies ever made. If ever there was a comic genius it was Jack Lemmon.

I have only three words: WHAT THE HELL?

Have a safe, happy and wonderful holiday.

I can hear! Yay! Went to the doctor and she flushed about 20 lbs. of wax out of my ear. It was disgusting. But I can hear and that’s what matters.

Did you know today is the anniversary of the day Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States? Look how far we’ve come…or not. Whatever.
Also today, Catherine the Great, perhaps the greatest czarina in Russia died AND it’s the anniversary of the day Lenin officially took power during the Bolshevik Revolution. Seems to me Russians should just stay in doors on Nov. 7.

Ain’t that the truth?

I really want to ditch work, spend the afternoon at Sephora and then settle in for chips ‘n salsa and maragaritas…Anyone care to join me?
